4. Cashmere production in Inner Mongolia
The main production areas of cashmere in my country are mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Gansu and Xinjiang. Tibet, Liaoning, Hebei and other places also have production. Among them, Inner Mongolia is the main production area of cashmere raw materials in my country and the world and the largest cashmere product deep processing and export province. Inner Mongolia's cashmere production accounts for about 40% of the country's cashmere, and more than 50% of the world's high-quality cashmere is produced in Inner Mongolia. The cashmere industry is a characteristic and advantageous industry in Inner Mongolia. It has played a very important role in prospering the market, expanding exports, absorbing employment and increasing the income of farmers and herdsmen.
In recent years, affected by the decline in the output of the cashmere industry, the output of cashmere in Inner Mongolia has also declined significantly. Data show that the output of cashmere in Inner Mongolia in 2018 was 6606.8 tons, and in 2019 it was 6312.0 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.46%.
5. Development trend of cashmere industry
Although my country has become the world’s major cashmere producer and exporter, with the introduction of the grazing prohibition policy in 2018, the cost of raising wool sheep has increased, coupled with the slowdown in economic growth and the impact of the Sino-US trade war. The cashmere industry needs to transform and upgrade. In the future, my country's cashmere industry will develop in the direction of deep processing and finished products, premiumization and branding, integration of animal husbandry, industry and trade, competition in comprehensive capabilities, and emphasis on technology research and development.
